What Are The Main Kitchen Design Trends Of 2026?

As the end of one year and start of another approaches, all kinds of commentators will be setting out their predictions for 2026, not least in the areas of fashion and design.

In the case of home interiors, this is not just about trends for the whole home, but specific areas. If you are looking for a kitchen designer in North London to transform this particular room in your home, you may be very keen to know what themes and ideas are likely to be in vogue in the year ahead.

You should always note a few important considerations first, before reading such lists:

·       There will never be just one style that is in fashion

·       Experts will disagree and some predictions may be completely wrong

·       If you really don’t like any of the ideas, you don’t have to copy them!

With all these caveats in mind, let us look at some of the ideas out there.

What Kitchen Design Ideas For 2026 Do The Experts Agree On?

Country Living has predicted five trends for kitchens in 2026:

·       Earthy, organic colour tones

·       Curves and softer shapes instead of straight lines

·       Prominent splashbacks

·       The extensive use of wood

·       Lots of zoning, with freestanding kitchen furniture

Other predictions will differ, but some of these themes have struck a chord with other designers.

For example, Homebuilding & Renovating has offered some similar forecasts, with the use of wood, earthy tones and curves among its predictions, while adding a few more, like a forecast that multifunctional taps will be a must-have.

This would suggest a certain amount of consensus around the rustic and organic. Indeed, that may tie in with other predictions of a general shift towards a more natural look, more about comfort and harmony with nature and less about neatness and straight lines, perhaps in tune with the popular trend towards ‘biophilia’ with lots of wood and plants.

Of course, you may want something very different for your kitchen. But if you are keen on following the latest trends, there does appear to be a clear pattern as 2026 approaches.
