Kitchens usually serve as the hub of the home, where everyone in the family comes together to enjoy quality time with one another over the dinner table - and, as such, it’s vital that these spaces are the perfect combination of aesthetics, comfort and functionality, helping to make special memories as the years go by.

In order to achieve this, however, meticulous planning and flawless execution must take place and this is something that designer Sophie Silocchi takes serious pride in delivering for all her clients, having served the wider London area well as an interior designer for the last ten years and more.

Sophie’s approach to kitchen interior design prioritises quality above all else, with only the best materials, appliances, construction methods and customer service provided throughout.

She stays up to date with all the latest trends and innovations in home styling, while remaining true to the principles of classic design, ensuring that all completed schemes are beautifully timeless so there’s no fear that they’ll look dated within a few years.

Regardless of whether you’re having a brand-new kitchen installed or simply want an upgrade, it’s key to think about who uses the space and how.

Configuration should be the first priority, followed by lighting systems so that mood and task lighting are both considered. Once you have an idea of practical layout, you can think about aesthetics such as colour, artwork, dining furniture and so on, key elements to really bring the room to life and give it your own unique stamp.

It’s always advisable to look at past projects when thinking about working with an interior designer - and this recent kitchen design scheme for an old country house in Oxfordshire truly is one of my favourites.

Sophie was keen to reflect the natural surroundings, so painted the units in a soft but contemporary dark green, completing the look with a timeless Shaker-style kitchen design featuring a marble-topped kitchen island and Russell Pinch stools.

For something more sleek and contemporary, you might find this recent Hampstead project appealing. Here, she went for minimalist units without handles painted in a deep dark blue, paired with pendant concrete lamps and pops of colour introduced with stools in pistachio green and dining chairs in vibrant pink, lending serious character to a modern setting.
